‘VILLAGE PEOPLE’ GET TOGETHER TO OFFER MORE TO LOCALS. PV CLUB LAUNCHED ON SEYMOUR PLACE AND NEW QUEBEC STREET

Posted on Wednesday, 01st September 2010

Portman Village Club (PV Club) has been launched at shops and restaurants on Seymour Place and New Quebec Street. The local club scheme offered by restaurateurs and shopkeepers at Portman Village, as well as at a handful of hotels in the area provides exclusive benefits to PV Club members, such as discounts and special offers at their stores.
PV club was introduced for people who live or work in the Marylebone area, however anyone can sign up to be a member. Membership applications and cards will available from stores at Portman Village (see full list below) and individuals can also sign up for the annual membership through the website - click here for more information - and it's free of charge.
Oliver Fenn-Smith, Property Director from The Portman Estate comments ‘Portman Village has grown tremendously over the past year and is fast becoming a favourite hot spot for locals. We are very proud of our new boutiques and restaurants on both Seymour Place and New Quebec Street and the opening of our anchor pubs The Grazing Goat and The Portman later on this year will really bring the village together. We felt that we should reward local residents and people who work in the area for their loyalty. We believe that through PV Club more people will discover Portman Village and the tight knit community of boutiques and restaurants that provide such a personal and service-led experience. The Portman Estate has invested considerable sums into public realm works and renovating the handsome Georgian terraces to create a bespoke shopping and dining experience’.

All shops and restaurants that are part of PV Club feature a sign on their door so that shoppers and diners can easily identify where they can use their card and get a good deal. Most shops and restaurants offer 10% to 25% OFF discounts and some have even thrown in additional deals such as The Original Sofa Co. who are offering a free matching footstool with every sofa purchased, on top of their 10% off offer.
In addition to retailers on Seymour Place and New Quebec Street, a carefully selected group of local hotels such as Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, The Arch, The Montcalm, The Leonard and others such as Home House, Carbon Bar and the Sportsman Casino also form part of the PV Club offering some great deals at their bars, restaurants and spas.
‘It is so important to be working together with key stakeholders from the area and to join forces to promote the area collectively. Full of history, heritage, beautiful architecture and some great places to shop, eat and drink and to stay at, we have so much to offer, just minutes away from the hassle and bustle of busy Oxford Street’ says Oliver Fenn-Smith from The Portman Estate.

‘Operating a Hotel in "Portman Village" emphasises the wonderful community feeling that certainly exists between residents and businesses of the Estate and its visitors, be they here for the day, for work or leisure, or for longer periods from far away destinations. The PV Club will certainly add to the community spirit, highlighting the great range of shops and restaurants that Portman Village has to offer’,
comments Henny Frazer, Director of Marketing Communications at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill.

There is a dedicated page on the website
featuring the most up to date list of offers – both general and seasonal - click here to go to the page. In addition to the general benefits, PV Club members will be kept up to date and offered additional seasonal offers through regular e-newsletters and ‘Top 10 at PV’ featuring the latest and ‘must have’ products and services from Portman Village.

Shoppers and visitors can also pick up PV Club application forms and their card from shops and restaurants on Seymour Place and New Quebec Street during the Portman Village Street Party on Wednesday, 22nd September, when Portman’s ‘Village People’ will get together to celebrate and welcome shoppers for special food and drink tastings, exclusive offers and more. What’s more visitors will be able to use their brand new card during the Street Party so then can benefit from all the PV Club offers there and then.

THE PORTMAN TO OPEN ITS DOORS IN SEPTEMBER

Posted on Monday, 02nd August 2010

Fine dining pub operators The Meredith Group have taken the unit on the corner of Seymour Place and Upper Berkeley Street, formerly known as The Masons Arms.  The new pub is to be named ‘The Portman’ after Sir William Portman.

The three storey Victorian public house is now undergoing extensive redevelopment and refurbishment throughout.

Works include updating the ground floor to incorporate 30 seats including banquette seating with windows opening out to the street, and a sophisticated interior design with a bespoke central bar. The pub will serve premium lagers and cask ales. The first floor will be developed into a 45 cover restaurant offering affordable fine dining to compliment the more traditional pub downstairs.

The Portman is expected to start trading at the beginning September 2010 and will be open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7-days a week, 365 days a year.
The Meredith Group opened their first pub in 2003 taking over and redeveloping what became The House in North London. They also own another dining pub, The Only Running Footman, just off Berkeley Square, Mayfair.
